Nature's Responses to the Seasons

Lots of birds migrate south.

Bears hibernate in winter. In the rainforest it is always hot. The arctic winters are dark all the time. The animals don't mind. Predators such as wolves and other carnivores follow the herds of herbivores.

  1. Are the arctic winters really dark all the time? At the library, we had a teacher speak about her 3 months doing research on a certain microorganism found only in Antarctica. She talked about all the vast whiteness, but also about the colors of the sky and the animal life, even some hearty plant life. I think that she was there in February. She loved it and wants to return soon!

  2. In the winter the Arctic is always dark. In the summer it is always light.

That is very interesting about the scientist who is going to study the Arctic. I would like to go to the Arctic and study it like her. Maybe I'll meet her there in 15 years.

    1. I will tell the teacher that she should be expecting you at the arctic research station!
