Animal Senses

Tree frogs have great sight. Rabbit have good hearing.

People have 5 senses, but other animals have more. Bats, dolphins, pit vipers, and sharks have more than five. Bats and dolphins have echolocation. Pit vipers and sharks have heat sensing.

  1. Echolocation? Can you explain more about what that is? I'd be interested to know more!

  2. Good question! Echolocation is a way of getting around in the dark without needing to see. When a sound bounces off an object the bat or dolphin knows something is there.

  3. I did not know about the vipers and sharks' heat sensing abilities. Interesting. I can hardly wait to go back to the islands and start preschools so that I can teach those children the things of nature that you are so generously teaching us. Its all so exciting. I can hardly wait to come home everyday and look your blog up!! Keep up the good work. We're loving it!
